Rio Marié 2019 Season Fishing Report Week 2: August 30 - September 4

Week 2: August 30 – September 4

Weather: Our second week was very warm, and we didn’t have any overcast conditions or rain. Temperatures ranged between 32-36ºC.

River Conditions: The water levels dropped quickly every day. The Turi River had many sandbanks exposed. These beaches were hidden last week. A lot of new spots began to appear in the lagoons, including a collection of sticks that we call Molongó.

Fishing Conditions: The fishing conditions improved a great deal from the first week. Within a few days the water level dropped about two meters and made the fishing much better. And ventures upstream to the Turi River paid off as we found a good number of temensis and butterfly peacock bass in lagoons.

Fishing Stats:
Number of anglers: 10
Butterflies caught: 277
Temensis caught: 26
Temensis over 10lbs: 4
Temensis over 15lbs: 12
Temensis over 20lbs: 2

Highlight of the Week: The water dropped, and the weather was warmer. The fish became more active, and we saw the first couple of temensis making nests in shallow water! The biggest fish of the week measured 87cm and weighed in at 21 pounds. Most of our guests were beginner anglers, and they had an excellent week of fishing.
