Rio Marié 2017 Season Fishing Report Week 2: Sept. 21-28

Week 2: Sept. 21-28

Weather: The weather for our second week was mostly sunny and hot. We had a few showers and overcast conditions during mid-day, but the sun always came back. Temperatures ranged between 30-35C.

River Conditions: The water rose little by little every day because we had some rain on the headwaters of the Marié and Turi. Nevertheless, water levels were excellent for fishing. The Marié presented several sand beaches, good shallow water, and lagoons and lakes were in perfect condition. Jungle streams brought in a good amount of water, and small jungle creeks were also at good levels. During the week, the water rose one foot, which was good to keep the river from getting too low. We are pleased to continue to have good water conditions.

Fishing Conditions: We were happily surprised to find that even with a little rise in water levels, most of the fish which refused streamers were aggressively taking poppers. Mouths of jungle creeks weren't so productive but better water levels made shallow water on lagoons the place to find big fish. We had good sight fishing conditions for big fish in the lagoons, especially during mid-day when the temperature was really hot.
