Rio Marié 2017 Season Fishing Report Week 7: Oct. 26 - Nov. 2

Week 7: Oct. 26 - Nov. 2

Weather: We encountered rain the first two days and sunny conditions the rest of the week. Temperatures were stable and ranged between 30 and 35C.

River Conditions: Water levels were stable at the beginning of the week and rose mid-week. Sandy beaches were underwater, and lagoons and lakes had high water levels. Tributaries and small jungle creeks dropped a good amount of water.

Fishing Conditions: At the beginning of the week, we had perfect fishing conditions and experienced a lot of action on fly. Most of the fish were on structure on the main river. Lakes and lagoons were not so productive. We had the most success fishing with streamers. Fish were too aggressive to take flies, so slow retrieves were the answer. Water levels forced us to use intermediate and sinking tips most of the time.

Fishing Stats:

Number of Anglers: 6

Butterflies Caught: 258

Temensis Caught: 39

Temensis over 10lbs: 11

Highlight of the Week: Despite high water levels, anglers were able to catch hundreds of peacock bass with several giants in the mix. Two fish were larger than 20 pounds!
