Rio Marié 2017 Season Fishing Report Week 9: Nov. 9 - 16

Week 9: Nov. 9 - 16

Weather: The weather for our ninth week was sunny during the first part followed by some rain until the final days of the trip when sun appeared again. We finished the week with good weather. Temperatures were stable and ranged between 30 and 35C.

River Conditions: Water levels dropped at the beginning of the week. After some rain in headwaters, the river started rising. We finished our week with rising water levels. With this, we had some access to nice sand beaches, and lagoons, lakes, and small tributaries had optimal water levels. Fishing Conditions: We had perfect fishing conditions at the beginning of the week, with especially good action the first couple of days when water was dropping and then stable. Most of the fish we caught were on structures on the main river. Lakes and lagoons were also productive.?We had the most success fishing with streamers with intermediate tips. Clouser Minnows and Lefty?s Deceivers in chartreuse and white were effective.

Fishing Stats:

Number of Anglers: 8

Butterflies Caught: 395

Temensis Caught: 49

Temensis over 10lbs: 10

Temensis over 15lbs: 8

Temensis over 20lbs: 4

Highlight of the Week: Even with rising water during the second part of the week, Grace Lee got a monster peacock bass on popper after trying several different streamers! Well done! Another unbelievable moment was experienced by Avi and Brian Hersterman. They saw a giant harpy eagle flying and then suddenly dive fast into a tree to attack some monkeys! Photos soon! A magical moment that even Nat Geo guys can spend years to get on camera.
